s'up folks, sweaty weekend today isn't it ? okay come, skip the weather aside and let's move on to our main topic for this week's let's talk section. as requested by railgun-chan in her most recent e-mail to our co-author zange, today i will put down a list of my favorite tsunderekkos; and below is my 10 selected tsunderekkos spanning over various series i had came to watch so far. be noted as well that there are some of these girls of whom weren't legit enough to be labeled as a tsundere, still they do have few, if not some merit to be listed as so.
01. KAGAMI 'KAGAMIN' HIIRAGI
[ series : lucky star ]
greatest kagamin is greatest. both she and konata makes a good pair and if she were to be divided from konata she alone is a force not to be taken lightly with. a major staple on my desktop, kagamin is the elder half of the hiiragi twins and the much 'cooler' or dependable sister compared to the airhead / moeloli dreamer tsukasa. to note, kagamin's tsundereness often came to be the main subject of the series since konata often enjoy herself in teasing / poking this side of kagamin to the extreme, which also result in the unofficial yuri view from fans of the two.
02. ASUKA SOHRYU-LANGLEY
[ series : neon genesis evangelion ]
among the earliest example of tsunderekko in anime, asuka is the germany born eva pilot with a huge ego and sky high temper and is often depicted as the opposite of both rei and shinji. she pilots the production type eva 02 and often acted as the de facto team leader eventhough sometimes she ends up second behind shinji due to his exceptionally high synchro ratio with unit 01. asuka had also made famous of the twintails hairdo [ or not ] which is now a staple among modern tsunderekko [ see kagamin and teana case for example ] as well as her tendency to become emotionally explosive whenever she is forced to say something in honest.
03. TEANA LANSTER
[ series : mahou shoujo lyrical nanoha strikers ]
the tsukommi half of teana x subaru yuri pair, teana lanster established herself as an obvious tsundere in one certain episode before herself becoming the most notable tsunderekko of the series rivalling even the not quite obvious tsunderekko vita. being the only plain mage from her point of view [ since her other teammates / captains are made of awesome / epic mages ], teana is forced to adopt a personality much similar to those of the great asuka, but not to the extreme extent as seen from the latter. also, you shouldn't be messing with a tsunderekko holding dual magical handguns :3
04. YUI KOTEGAWA
[ series : to love-ru ]
the stoic, moralfag yui is among my fave chick of the series, first only to herself and second to none. it didn't take long for me to fall over her as she managed to score a fan in me straight from the get go, given that i am so in fond of moralfags who had tiny bit of deredereness in their personality much like the kurusu chick from the pime-taradoxical magikano. in the most recent chapters of to love-ru one couldn't help but to fall more deeply into her character as the author [ kentaro yabuki-sensei ] explores much deeper into her as a normal girl who too had the desire to be loved and cheered which gave much depth and juice over her chara compared to her appearances in the early chapters prior.
05. EIKA ICHIJYOU
[ series : sky girls ]
the capable team leader of the sonic diver team and the only person of the trio [ later quartet ] who had proper training in military and combat, eika is sometimes depicted as a caring sister for the brat elise as both of them shared almost identical family issues [ though elise lost her parents since she's still uberly young ]. being the only person on her team who had proper training in military disciplines, she at first had quite the trouble in adapting to her new teammates most notably the explosive otoha but later the two managed to score a lasting friendship as well as nice / great teamwork as the series progress further. she might as well share the same fetish on modern air fighters as i did lol.
06. RIN TOHSAKA
[ series : fate/stay night ]
a skilled young mage from the hit fate/stay night franchise, rin is the elder sister of the tohsaka sisters with sakura being her younger sister that is taken into early adoption by the matou family. rin initially wishes to have the greatest servant saber into her service but instead summoned the laid back archer which she often find herself at odds first but had no problem in maintaining a great teamwork from their first team up. within her school she is considered as the untouchable idol as well as the omnipotent student who seems to had great existence in academics and is even considered as one of the honor student though she's often cold toward others. her coldness however began to soften since her meeting with shiro, who succeeded in opening her up to others around him especially sakura.
07. ERI SAWACHIKA
[ series : school rumble ]
the half-japanese-american blondie classmate of tenma and an almost direct copy of nice-asuka from my personal point of view, minus the giant skinny mecha and tightalicious red plug suit lol. eri is the so-called princess of her class and is the subject of adoration [ read : school idol ] among them boys of her school. she had mistakenly took harima's certain actions as bold / direct confession towards her and had since grown a tiny affection towards him before realizing that he in fact is in love with her best friend tenma. also it is interesting to note that she can be awesomely jealous over girls who suddenly became close to harima; among her many subject of jealousy was the clueless yakumo who had no idea of the matter as well as her greatest friend mikoto suou [ aka delicious mikoto ] who she had mistakenly took as having an affair with harima.
08. TSUGUMI AOBA
[ series : kannagi -crazy shrine maidens- ]
her case is almost similar to haruhi suzumiya, in which she can be considered as a tsunderekko but in general isn't quite befitting to be considered so. however if i had to choose one out of the two i will surely be picking her instead of haruhi [ :3 ]. anyway i didn't quite remember the number of the episode but her tsundereness shines the most during the maid cafe scene in which akiba himself points out in his brief innershout 'tsundere !' following tsugumi's self defensive remark when is pushed by jin over her role as the cafe's waitress. for those who is yet to watch the series, tsugumi is the childhood friend of the series' protagonist jin, and had been harboring a crush over him prior to nagi's arrival into jin's life. she often made several attempt to impress jin by offering her homemade cooking though so far she can only prepare tamagoyaki [ sweetened omelettes ] and some simple veggie dish, and quite often took the tsundere-ish defensive stance when is pushed to reveal the true status of her relationship with jin.
09. TSUKIUMI
[ series : sekirei ]
curse you shin for claiming her so early lol. tsukiumi is the water-based sekirei who at first had the motivation to kill any ashikabi dared to make her their sekirei, but then fall victim to the protagonist's 'poison' and later self-proclaiming herself as his wife which only succeeded in getting me rage all over lol. okay tsukiumi's personality is a bit extreme and she is not afraid of nailing minato big time for flirting with the others namely the airhead musubi.
10. NARU NARUSEGAWA
[ series : love hina ]
another classic example on my list and the second tsunderekko i came to favor of in chronology, naru is highly infamous for her epic naru-punch that will often send keitaro to the skies or any other extremely painful act she can pull over him whenever he had her in what she often mistook as lecherous / perverted antics of him [ though most of the time they were of pure coincidences ]. naru is also the typical geek-beauty type of chara and a highly emotional person that some girls might find her easy for them to relate to.
