HIGURASHI NO NAKU KORO NI REI [ OVA ]

today is the [ much awaited ] release of higurashi no naku koro ni rei second dvd in japan, that's if according to the date given prior by studio deen. however, what i am about to write here isn't bout the 2nd ova to come but rather my recent watch on the first installment of the 5 part rei ova series. well i might be uber late still it is better late than never right lads ? plus i just get to find myself a much better internet cafe to operate from; wif better speed and nicely-malware-free pc :3
interestingly the ova opens with a nice op though i am more into the folk-ish first and second op of the anime franchise; and i was briefly fooled to think that rei's op was sung by mami kawada from the opening music but later am relieved to hear the much beloved eiko shimamiya back on the series. +nicely enough the ova wraps up with a jazzy feel in reminiscence of higukai, giving some sort of the same dark and melancholic feel of higukai's ed. and that's a four star for rei's ed tqvm.
okay if there's two thing that i would like to stress out in regard to my anticipation of the ova is the new chara design laid by kazuya kuroda-sensei [ kaibutsu oujo, spice and wolf, vandread etc ] and the ever lovely rena ryuugu of course [ been wanting to hear more of her omochikaeri- line >///> ]. seriously the design looks a bit better this time compared to the previous two, though overall rei's design is noticably inconsistent when it comes to the minor charas [ the angel mort groupies for example ].
plotwise the ova is more of ecchi than what you would usually expect from higuhigu as the ova is mainly shaped to be a bowl of lolflakes rather than the staple gurolicious detective get of the series; that however does not had me turning away since it is quite a rare chance for us to seriously sit back and just enjoy the fab 5 more as the carefree school peeps they were instead of the killer / tragic lolis they was. and yes of course i am so darn happy to see my rena and mion in bikinis >///>
+here's sum notable highlights of the first ova which i find to be quite amusing to meself :
01. chie sensei goes ciel with her t-squares lol. now that gave me a sudden urge to revisit tsukihime.
02. oh shi- takano's still on the show, and tiger swimsuit ohmaigod do want !!!1
03. nice thing we still got hanyuu, though i am more for her to be tangible to the party like she was in higukai.
04. got sum nice lols to chase away them boredom, though at first i thought the ova to be defiling the [ established ] infamous morbid feel of the series. but that's okay, since the joke aren't that lame if i were to be frank [ note : school days' valentine days ova is much more displeasing than this :3 ].
05. yamainu wimps out much to my pleasure lol. if only tommy calls out them banken to fill in the crowd :3
perhaps there should be onibaba as well as i would love to see her fooling around together wif the party, still from the look of the preview for the second installment seems like the series will be picking up its dark and serious tone once again. and did i see rena's demonic expression there ? oh shi- do want !!!1
